I had a sketchy moment in a parking lot recently that reminded me how important situational awareness really is. Now I make a habit of scanning my surroundings, noting exits, and staying off my phone when I’m out. It’s not about paranoia, I am just being switched on before things go sideways. Situational awareness feels like a muscle, the more you use it, the sharper it gets. How do you keep yours tuned?

I practice "Baseline-and-Anomaly" (a buddy of mine always rattle on and on about this). So I notice the normal pattern of a place, then look for anything that is abnormal. I also try to mentally rehearse "What If" scenarios, like where I'd go if a threat appeared

This hit home. I had a similar wake-up call once, and it really changes how you move through the world. For me, it’s about calm presence, staying aware without letting fear take the wheel. You said it perfectly… it’s a muscle.
