Shotgun sense for home defense

I've been drilling defensive shotgun stuff lately, practicing handling, reloads, and patterning after a scary neighbor story made me take it seriously. I realized that shot selection and knowing your patterns matter more than a flashy setup, does anyone here have a favorite home defense load?

I run 00 buck, Federal or Hornady. Pattern your gun at 7 to 15 yards, train slow to fast and carry spare shells
