just picked up my first 10/22, and I already get why people love these things. shoots great right out of the box, but what really sold me is how customizable it is.

I'm trying not to go overboard right away, but I'd like to slowly make it my own. curious what upgrades or small mods you've done that made the biggest difference — or just made it more fun to shoot.

what's worth doing first?

the first step of any 22 is always the same.
Shake down the store shelves for any and all ammo offerings.
You need to know what it shoots best before you go too much further.
I'm about 80% through this process with my springfield 2020 rimfire target model.
so far I've found it's bargain basement blastorama load, It's high performance varmint / hunting load, just got a start on the quest for it's premium target load.
Without this, you really don't know how much optic is worth putting on the thing. There's nothing bust frustration if you put a 14X scope on it when it just does not have the accuracy to take advantage of such magnification.
The opposite is also true. If it CAN deliver the goods, a non magnified red dot seems to lock out a fair portion of it's potential. so far, the sprignfield can easily justify it's 3-9. It might be able to support more scope running Lapua, Eley, or SK. Time and testing will tell.
From there ... modes to improve its fit to the shooter are appropriate where they can be applied, as is the case of the 10/22.

Let's see if this works.
This was a pleasant find in my ammo quest ( if the picture works)
This emerged from the bargain basement test group at 50 yards.
