My grandpa named all his hunting rifles. When he died, those names meant something. Now I sometimes do the same thing and think about him when I use them. It's not really about the gun itself, it's the memories attached. Anyone else have family traditions like this with naming guns?

We never gave our guns names, but some rifles still have stories attached. When I pick one up, I remember who taught me how to use it and where we went hunting. I remember those things even if the gun doesn't have a name.

We used to do something similar growing up. Names stuck because the stories stuck. When I pick up those guns, it feels like talking to the past even if I don't mean to remember the names.
