If you're new to guns in Nebraska, a few things helped me a lot: always know local hunting and carry laws, invest in proper storage, practice regularly, and join a local shooting club. Safety and familiarity go a long way. To experts in the house, what tips helped you when you started out?

When I started, finding an experienced mentor made a huge difference...also, taking a basic firearms safety course and starting with simpler firearms before moving up helped build confidence gradually

I also made the mistake of skipping basic courses thinking I knew enough, my best decision was swallowing my pride and taking a beginner's class...I learned so much about fundamentals I'd missed

yeah having someone experienced show you proper form and safety habits beats learning bad habits on your own

It's amazing how much you think you know until you take a proper class, those fundamentals really make all the difference in building good habits from the start

First time buyer? .... Don't.
It's far better to test drive someone else's collection before you walk up to the counter to to empty your wallet.
That can be a friend's collection, or even the rental guns at the range. This morsel of experience will lead to better decisions.
