Debating if those paid light shows are worth it

You know those big drive-through or walk-through light displays that charge like $25-30 per car? My wife wants to go but I'm wondering if it's just overhyped. Are they actually cool or is it better to just cruise free neighborhoods? For those who've done both, what's your honest take?

Honestly they are pretty cool for the experience especially at night with music and synced lights
