I'm learning how the forum works so have patience with me. About 20 years ago I had an 1859 Sharps in 45-70 and I let it get away. I always regreted that. So while I was talking to Midway about the 36 long colt Howell conversion I asked the sales lady if they had a Sharps in stock. She said they had just gotten a new delivery and like a fool I ordered one.. It's an 1859 Armi Cavalry Carbine in 54 caliber. I got 100 original bullets from Dixie Gun Works. And I bought a bullet mold that is 300 grains from Lee. I don't like paper cartriges so I got a box of 24 guage brass shotgun hulls from Dixie. I plan on trimming the hulls and enlarging the primer hole and assembling a round. I will have to put tape over the primer hole to keep it from leaking. Am waiting on the brass shells.

Awesome, I am looking forward to hearing how the brass hull setup works out.
